irene: re: your schoolin' of your kids:
bless ya, if only more parents were like this.
personally, i grew up with my parents playing
supertramp and fleetwood mac (which i still have a
fondness for because of, though I wouldn't mind
shaking it :)), barbara streisand (i could
do without having heard her :)), crystal gayle, abba
(*a lot* of abba), captain and tenille, kenny rogers,
and maybe a couple of others that luckily escape
my memory all these years later. My parents had like
maybe 10 or 15 records MAX in their collection
and so I heard these over and over and over in the
70s until I started buying my own records in 1979/80ish (which
wasn't that easy being in a small town...) Funny enough,
when I started writing and getting promos in the early
80s, I started
giving them all kinds of freebie records that I didn't want, but
that I thought might be up their alley, yet a "step up"
from what they listened to over and over, some of which
they probably still have somewhere. In the end, I
think I turned out okay, despite having an album or
two each from the above artists pummelled into my
brain for ten years or so. At least I can smile when I
hear ABBA now, instead of cringing ;) Damn, if only they had
been into some FUNK instead of what they were
into, though. oh well.hindsight and all... Andrew :()
