Minit are Jasmine Guffond from Sydney who has appeared in many
various guises over the years, Alternahunk being one, she's a great live dj
too....

..and Torben Tilley who played percussion with a NZ 'pop' outfit
Garbage and the Flowers...Torben is an accomplished artist who
creates wonderful sound installations..he was residing in Sydney,
Minit are currently in the UK, believe they did a Peel session and hopefully
they'll come home soon..

they have a track on a 2CD of Australian electronic music from
a couple of years back, that track appears on the Sigma release..
they also had an 8" lathe cut that was a part of an exhibition
in Brisbane and Melbourne called 50 Turntables, where 25
artists contributed 2 tracks, 20 lathe records were pressed and
set up in an interactive fashion in a warehouse setting..the record
players where a random collection of 60's/70's kitsch hi[lo]-fis..
only one track on their lathe pressing was exclusive...

they are wonderful live, there sound is warm and organic, they do
have minimal, repetitive phrases they blossom and draw you in,
not realising time has elapsed..some 15 minutes or so...

this cd is highly recommended...[as are all Sigma Edition releases]

Sigma Editions are planning a series of limited 12"s in the not too
distant future...

Sigma Editions was started by 2 ex-members of Thela. Dion Workman
[who is currently residing/running the label in Amsterdam] and
Rosy Parlane. The label is a collective of like-souls who are committed
to releasing rich abstract electronic works..other releases include
a solo CD of Rosy Parlane, great interlocking loops which drift and
meander through your subconcious...Parmentier is Dion and Rosy
and they create deep, glitchy bass and blip soundscapes using an old
device called a 'luxsound'..from memory is a fairly cheap delay-type
device...Parmentier also had a double 8" lathe cut which is impossible
to come by, I think a couple of tracks ended up on a Drunken Fish
comp CD...

d.haines has an fantastic release [another Sydneysider] who creates
piano loops which are, for the sake of 'riyl', along the lines of Reich..
his works carrying along the sense of drifting and being carried
away by the shifting harmonics of his work...

vladislav delay is the only non-australian connection in the S.E.
catalog, his 12" on Huume was greatly loved by Torben, who suggested
he send a DAT to Dion..the V.Delay CD is another ambient glitch
workout that has you reaching for the repeat button...I' yet to hear
his 12" on the Max & Ernst label...

the label left Aussie shores in June for Europe and travelled around
playing Finland, Germany, Austria...etc...for a couple of months..
Rosy P came back to Melbourne, Minit stayed in UK..so the next
Sigma E series will be the aforementioned 12" releases...

while I am friends with most of the artists/collective, I would only
recommend these releases if I had the utmost faith in the product..
I rarely take the time to write to the list...Forced Exposure def. carry
these releases, check em out !
