My solution is quite different: I am completely away from having everything available all the time. This was an counterproductive dream. I use for one track only three or four devices, and nothing else is available at that moment. I develop the track live on a mixer, and then I record it via an interface. I'd have 8 inputs, but usually while recording I use only two of them (recording track by track).
