Just like my Recoreviews (which will be starting up again soon), i've decided to start another regular posting series called Recorenews. This series will contain new artist, label, and release news lust like the news messages i've been posting over the past week. Hopefully this will be of interest to list members. ------------------------------------------ Recorenews, vol 1 ------------------------------------------ Karaoke Kalk's first release of 1999 will be a new 4-track ep by Senking called Pling. The style is supposed to be a mixture of new & familiar KK sounds. Senking's Pling ep will be released next month. ------------------------------------------ As mentioned in a previos post, A-Musik and related labels have new releases coming soon. Here is the rundown of what to expect: - Terre Thaemlitz: A-Muzak 7" - A-Musik presents treated cheesy listening, using records for a record. Due April 99. - Felix Kubin: Filmmusik cd - a reissue of the Klangkrieg Mastermind’s debut Lp which was only available in an edition of 250 copies. This mix contains a wide range of electro-tinged tracks from the likes of Anthony Rother, Sem, Third Electric, Octagon Man, Suburban Hell, Scorn, Dynamo, Echo Park, Soft Cell, Saw Tooth and Human to name a few. Labels represented on this mix include Electrecords, Psi49Net, Electron Industries, Elektrolux, Earache, Vinyl Solution, Lo Recordings, Immortal, Din, Djax and Human. ------------------------------------------ The next in the series of Oval eps will be released this week. The release, called Szenario, is another 4-track 12" ep on the Thrill Jockey label. Tracklisting: 1. memo, 2. par, 3. kardio, 4. indirect. The press release for this ep reads: Markus Popp, or OVAL as he has come to be known, is at it again. The digital terrorist attacks with the second of two 12"'s that will hold the needle in early 1999. Szenario continues his exploration and manipulation of digital technology. This mini-single is the second in a two part series of 12" OVAL singles. Aero Deko and Szenario are considered the vinyl version of the upcoming OVAL full- length cd scheduled for release in June of 1999. This next installment of OVAL Process Software takes a leap from the platform of Dok. While Dok employed the sound files of Christophe Charles, Szenario is made from the rich and round tones of the OVAL sound files. The tones and melodies are a ghost, a faint reminder of the melodies on the OVAL debut Systemisch. Those who saw Markus Popp on his recent tour with Tortoise had a small preview of the OVAL Process in its present state. For those unlucky punters without a home P.A.--play this loudly. There is considerable depth and a deep groove. In fact, Popp and friend Jan from Mouse on Mars have labeled Szenario as the first Oval R&B release. In other Oval-related news, Markus Popp has been making a documentary for German television about videogame programmers. He plans to turn this material into a full- length film in the future. Also Popp will play a small number of dates in the U.S. in later this year. More info when it's available. ---------------------------------------------- There is a very descrete label operating these days that i'm sure will be of interest to many. The label is called CPIJ and they have thee 7"s out to date all of which are have little to no info on them. But i've recently found out who are responsible for these releases: cpij01 is barry from add n to x, cpij02 is an alec empire/spring heel jack split, and cpij03 is andrew weatherall from two lone swordsmen. Supposedly they are pretty limited so act quick. ------------------------------------------- Mego has put out some excellent new releases lately: a 4-track Goem 12" called Dertig CM and a 2-track 3" cd by Pure called The End of Vinyl. The Goem ep bears trademarks of the same minimalism found on their Stud Stim cd on Rastermusic but much deeper and less playfull. The Pure 3" cd on the other hand was created using sounds from various run out grooves different records. The Goem ep is out now and the Pure 3" cd should be out next week. ------------------------------------------ btw: if there are any artists, labels, or distributers who would like their new music information included in this regular series feel free e-mail me privately at xxxxx@xxxxxxxxx.xxx -->-Lance--- xxxxxxx@xxxx.xxx xxxxx@xxxxxxxxx.xxx p.o. box 450715 westlake, ohio 44145 united states
