Do you have an old piece of junk to experiment with? I=E2=80=99d try = that first, as I did with a synth that was pretty far beyond repair and = then moved on to another synth I got fairly cheaply (Moog MG-1) and = fixed that thing up quite nicely to get it ready for sale. That was more = reassuring to work on, knowing I got it cheap and if I totally screwed = it up, I wouldn=E2=80=99t be out much beyond that parts I bought to fix = it up. That said, the SH-101 PCB=E2=80=99s are FAR worse than the MG-1=E2=80=99s,= so you do have to be VERY careful with them. They=E2=80=99re basically = layers of paper and a thin payer of conductive material on top of that. = If you=E2=80=99re not careful, you could lose a solder pad or ten! I don=E2=80=99t really trust solder suckers to really do the job, so I = invested in a bunch of rolls of solder wick. That way you can be pretty = sure you=E2=80=99ve soaked up all the solder with the wick, at the = expense of time (it=E2=80=99s far slower to wick up solder than to use a = sucker). I only accidentally lost one solder pad and was able to add a = short jumper wire to the release slider from another point on the PCB. That=E2=80=99s just my preference though. > On Jun 27, 2018, at 10:36 AM, A. My original caps don=E2=80=99t stay on the new sliders = very well. I=E2=80=99m sure there=E2=80=99s an easy solution to that = though. >>=20 >> Anyway, I bought a full set last fall and finally got around to = replacing all of the sliders and pots a few weeks ago. It=E2=80=99s also = a VERY good idea to replace the power inlet and power switch while you = are at it.
