i agree that in light of "child and magic," "scope" sounds less amazing.
but i also on the whole prefer "scope" to "child and magic" for a few basic
reason -- it's shorter and more varied, and there is much more *space* in
the tracks. "child and magic" is just too dense; there's not enough depth
to the sound for how much is going on in the music. there are also two many
songs doing more or less the same thing, and for too long. about half of
"child and magic" is truly remarkable, however. and "icefall" (from
"scope") is one of the best things takemura has ever done.
