week - they are a major part of a small festival I am supporting in town
here. We will be performing their 9 record deck composition together,
alongside a new live Pole commission. Not to be missed. Along with a whole
history of electronica and experimental music in film and sound. Here

19/20/21        March        Sonic Concrete
Sonic Arts Network and scanner present a weekend of sonic art at the ICA,
London including new and unseen films, interactive installations, practical
workshops, diffused tape performances, live DJs and world premieres from
the foremost figures in electroacoustic and electronic music.

19 March
Classic tape pieces diffused by the Birmingham ElectroAcoustic Sound
Theatre (BEAST) Director Jonty Harrison plus premieres of live and
improvised electronic music by percussionist Ansuman Biswas (Acacia,
Summit) and Soundbeam manipulator Ben Higham.
=46ollowed by screening of archive and contemporary films.  Seminal, classic
and unseen footage covering the entire sonic spectrum from Ver=E9se and
Stockhausen to Sonic Youth's Thurston Moore and Add N to X. Bar Diffusion
club with Sonomorph DJ's.

20 March
Sonic games workshop inviting hands on play and creation.  Sound
installations, theramins, an interactive wall of sound and  sonic games
from simon to Sony and more.
Live electronica performances including premieres of specially commissioned
works from Pole (Stefan Betke) and Spring Heel Jack (Ashley Wales and John
Coxon) with guests.  Plus a showcase of the newest in acousmatic, concr=E9te
and electroacoustic music with premieres by Ewan Stefani and Nye Parry,
diffused on the BEAST system.

Afternoon of live electronics workshops, talks and a special edition of
Uncut.  A workshop lead by Tim Steiner (Guildhall) will explore the
relationship between sampling technology and composition through hands on
participation. Robert Worby, composer and broadcaster heads a discussion
about the nature of collaboration between composers and filmmakers.  Uncut
will be screening the results of SAN's collaboration with St Martins and
will have a focus on music and film, with La Monte Young, Tony Conrad and
others.
