The 'crappy' part comes from the muziq habit of overloading the mixer inputs, and EQ'ing out anything below 500khz. Though I'd have to say the HR16 kicks need a lot of help. Which goes to the next muziq hr 16 habit of running through a fuzz pedal, sampling it into the FZ-1 and diddling the filter on it. Some of the ride cymbals on the Jega album sound like he sampled them off of "Bluff Limbo."
