hello folks long time etc
been having a groovy summer playin around europe & the med
rome, denmark, lisbon, tel aviv, hungary, glastonbury, barcelona,
amsterdam etc
best idm-related music i heard was at love parade and the
interference festival
back on track after not happening last year
bernd friedman played some mighty fucked up music with 5 minidisc
players
move d / earth II infinity played intense live stuff
the mfoc djs did sterling stuff
biggest suprise was newcomers swap from koln i think
wicked springy electronics that u would enjoy
i found an ep on musik aus strohm but the live stuff was even better
koln has so much electronic music ...
another topic - in boudisque amsterdam i saw a lot of tunes with
SPHERIC AMBIENT
written on them as a description, so i checked some of them out
they were all IDM type tunes with a strong electronic edge
like Vladimir Delay on Chain Reaction, which is most strange
a side like pole making detroit techno, b side weird throbbing ambient
also SENKING on Karaoke Kalk
karaoke kalk continues to be one of the most interesting labels
has everyone got the wunder lp by now i heard that a few times this
summer
if it were on matador or kranky everyone would be grabbing it
something else i just got - a new roedelius CD with a nice alex
patterson mix hurrah
did i tell u i played with can in hamburg one of the highlights of
the year
my fave record right now is the CIINEMATIC ORCHESTRA lp on ninja tune
intense spiritual jazz electronica that makes you go wow
of all the current jazz-fixated records this might be the best yet
If the big chill gala is anything to go by it's gonna be a jazzy
year next year!
jazzanova in particular rocked the place
i still want to see someone truly combine jazz and electronic
sensibilities
and i dont think anyones quite done it yet
tho ian o brien and jimpster are well on the way
