(idm) autechre : who's to blame?

sorry to belabor this but i think there are a few items that havent
been addressed in this discussion

if they knew (warp & nothing) that the special process that enabled
people to hear the track was not possible for cd's made in the usa,
why did they bother to do it in the first place? couldnt they have
just not bothered ?

if they knew this was the case the whole time, why wasnt anyone
informed? i mean why block it as an import? i dont think people have a
hard time plunking down the extra cash for extra tracks. thats
standard. people who are collectors are faced with that situation all
the time. this is different. no-one (well maybe no-one, but very few
knew of the situation) and that being said, lots of people bought the
domestic thinking they were getting the genuine article, only then to
find that they have to get the import to get the extra track. do they
then buy he import as well and then be in the hole $25.00 for both
cd's?

if you make it easy for people to get the import, they will get it. is
nothing that worried about loosing sales that they make it very
difficult and very expensive to obtain the import? its not the money
thats the problem, its the availability and lack of information i have
a hard time with. i have to get mine third hand and thats a royal
pain. you ask the distributors(not all but most) and they say, "why
bother? the domestic is in, want that?" you tell em and it doesnt
matter much.

maybe i am beating a dead horse but i think that people who are the so
called "trainspotters" out there should have allowances made for them.
it may be no big deal to 99% of the public, but to those who are
obsessed with autechre and warp, it is. why alienate those who care so
deeply for the music and the label? i care because of the principle
involved and the fact that my people are the one percenters (sorry
hells angels!) of the idm community
