DIN may be the German name for ASCII, but it also stands for a specific type
of audio cabling (round plug with 5 pins.) It's a standardized plug you can
see everywhere from certain power supply/ adapter plugs, to MIDI cables, to
electronic music making equipment sync plugs. (DIN sync, or Sync24). My
guess is this is how it ties into electronic music.
