> I have to say that my favorite producer of > his lot has to be PFM. I'm looking for music along her/his vein. It's them actually. Two blokes! > This is what I have from PFM so far: > One & Only (my favorite track by far) > Western (I can do without MC Conrad quite frankly) A great track totally spoilt on this comp. Hunt down the original 12"! > Danny's Song > These come off Logical Progression 1 >Love & Happyness/Wash over Me (12" single) >The Rough with the Smooth (Freezone 3) > Does anybody have PFM's discography? I don't, but even if I did it wouldn't exactly be very long. They are slllllllllooooooooowww at putting things out. They've now left Good Looking and are signed to a major. As for other PFM tunes, there's "For All Of Us/Mytics" also on Good Looking/Looking Good, and not a lot else as far as I can remember apart from a whole bunch of cash-in remixes. They did one for St Etienne, and some other people... > Are there any other producers > making d-n-b with a similar texture? Try the other Good Looking producers, especially Blame who is usally worth checking. He has a remix on the new Adam F single (he's worth checking too on this kind of tip) and a new single out on Good Looking called Visions of Mars which is fairly typical in a Horizons style, but the flip side 'Centuries' is excellent and the one for me. He also has his 720 degrees label on the go, so watch for his own stuff on there too. Also look out for anything on Creative Wax (DJ Pulse's label) and Creative Source (Fabio's label) - these are the main two labels putting this kind of stuff out now, not forgetting Moving Shadow (E-Z Rollers LP is out soon) and the spin-off label Partisan formed from the departed Moving Shad staff. > Has anyone heard Bukem's new stuff? One of my friends won Mystical Realms on Radio 1 a couple of weeks back. There are 4 tracks on it, two version of a track called Orchestral Jam (one with Conrad, one without!) and two other new ones. The last one is supposed to be nice, but the others are supposedly nothing special. > I saw an ad on Jockey Slut > for "Progression Sessions" with MC Conrad and "Mystical Realms". Any > reviews? Does the first one have any tracks without MC Conrad -- he > really doesn't flick my bic. No, he's a bit lame, especially on that version of the Western! Progression Sessions is a mix CD so it probably has him all the way through. One small mercy is that I'm told (on Orchestral Jam at least) he has got rid of that echo that he used to have on his voice that made everything he said die away very slowly and last about twice as long. As if he didn't say enough anyway... :-) > I also find myself quite often spinning out a track off Headz 2 (Mo' Wax) > called "New Element" by Forme (LTJ Bukem also mixes it in the second disc > of Logical Progression 1). I love that sound. I know I'm jumping on the > ambient/intelligent d-n-b wagon late, but all info would be greatly > appreciated. Yeah, it doesn't seem that popular now, but all the drum and bass styles seem to be coming back. Everyone's forgotten that they were supposed to hate the 'dolphin' stuff, so it okay now! Check out the real audios from Fabio's show last week on the Radio 1 site for a selection of the more ambient end of drum and bass. I can post you a tracklisting taken from the breaks list if you like...
