If you haven't heard anything from Kraftwerk (which I stongly doubt), let me just clear some things up: If if wasn't for Kraftwerk (born 1968 as Organisation, still active) this list wouldn't exist, what we refer to as "Techno" wouldn't exist, what you say is "the music of today" wouldn't be even nearly what it is today, and most importantly, the forms of developing music and performing it with synthesizers would be TOTALLY different from the present ones. As someone told me: "Whenever I want to hear something that will always give me faith in electronic music, I listen to "It's More Fun to Compute". Anyone who hasn't heard that track recently or at all should find themselves a good pair of headphones and 5 spare mintues to be blown away." Another good thing with knowing your history is that you can easily discover when someone is trying to rip off some dirty trick with just stealing someone elses sound. Now I see how credulously you dig the DMX Krew. If you haven't heard neither Grandmaster Flash nor Kraftwerk, then no wonder. Kraftwerk gave birth to a child called "techno", the people in detroit nursed it for a while, I'm not sure where it is now. However if you haven't heard anything by these german geniouses, go get either: Trans-Europa Express (Trans Europe Express) 1977, Die Mensch Machine (The Man Machine) 1978 or Computerwelt (Computerworld) 1981 (All on EMI) ...for a starter.
