Re: Elefant Traks www.singularity.net.au/elefant While the Elefant Traks label based in Surry Hills Australia is set to release their next compilation of known and unknown artists called "Food To Eat Music By," Ubin's "02" release deserve's a few words. Peter Hollo (idm list member aka Raven) contributes a track on this creative compilation called "Snowblind." I'll type up some random thoughts on this comp when i get a chance.. Late June saw the release of Ollie Chang and Joe Lamont's Ubin project. 02 is an eclectic mix of strange electronic drum'n bass structures with many of those "intelligent beats" that everyone seems to be enjoying on this list.. shall i mention RDJ, Ae, as well as Steve Reich and Tortoise? These are there "influences," so rather than try to explain the quirky electronica down-tempo style that put's Ubin in an area all their own, check out Elefant Traks' webpage for the details, as well as a couple sound clips to entertain your ears. Ubin combines an assortment of squished beats, a strong yet coherent backbone of melody with a fusion of ambient and IDM to keep your microwave's happy. File under: innovative electronic brain music.
