(idm) Dumb ass music reviews.

I've blown lots of money on music lately cause I'm a tard. In case anyone
out there is going to see these and ponder buying too, here's my thoughts.

Aphex Twin's _Windowlicker._ This cd is okay, but just buy the video.
It's cheaper and more fun. The cd doesn't have hos. Track 2 is pretty
good. It makes me have secret predictions about what the next aphex album
might sound like. The last song, 'Nanou,' is also, like the rest of the
cd, okay. Okay but not great. Video's better. I like moving colors on
the screen.
Source Direct's _Exorcise the Demons._ Hey, techstep. But not terribly
crappy, like most jungle out there. Kind of Photek-ish, but Photek is god
so I guess it's okay. Sort of dark and moody techstep, with surgical beats
and a lower tempo. Lots of backwards strings and synth pads and such ...
but 'Concealed Identity' is the winner track because the beats are
sometimes constructed out of kung fu flick swordfighting noises. I can't
help it if I like that sort of goofy thing. My copy cost $5.60, and it was
worth it. I'm not sure if I'd pay a full $16 at Tower or somesuch, but
this is a goodish CD of jungle. Tracks sometimes take too long to get
going anywhere, but that's jungle for you. Maybe you should just buy the
vinyl and ask a dj friend to mix it for you. Hmm.
Disc's _GaijinCD4_ on vinyl communications. I bought this 'cause it was
cheap and 30% off at Noise Noise Noise which is an annoying store. This cd
has good moments, but I get the feeling I'm supposed to keep saying, "Wow,
this is so *different,*" in an awed way. You don't have to buy this cd,
though. Just take any old cds you don't like, slash them with an x-acto
knife, and play them. You'd be hard-pressed to tell the difference.
'parse and shred it' is cool, as is 'our machines have souls like pandas,'
but the "cover" of 'love will tear us apart' is so stupid that it ruins my
appreciation of those two songs. Plus noise noise noise didn't have
Kraftwerk for me, and someone has to take the blame so it might as well be
this cd. I harbor resentment.
I also got Plastikman's _Consumed_ which isn't that new anymore, but is
the first Ritchie Hawtin thing I've ever owned. I'm not a big fan of
snooty minimal techno stuff usually, but I thought I'd be wacky and get
this. It's actually cool, and if you're one of those people who likes
nifty packaging, then you'll be pleased by the uber-stylish packaging. I
likey. Only I sometimes feel like either the acidy noises or the synth
washes are out of sync with the beat, but since there's usually only two or
three sounds at a time, maybe it's just me. I just wish this were a little
more crunchy and less aquatic-dub-ish. But anyway, it's nummy. My quest
to get into techno continues.

Oh, I also got Kid606 which is pretty nice, noisy fuzzy gabber, and pan
sonic's _a_. Is the _a_ that is the title the same A that used to be in
the middle of their name? Maybe the a misses its old home and crawled onto
the cd cover to visit. I've only listened to the cd 4 or 5 times. Some of
the songs I like, but some of them sound wierdly dub-techno to me, and I
don't like those. So overall it's interesting but nothing I'm in love with.

Yes, this is a retarded post, but I'm bored and sleepy simultaneously.
Now to go on a cross-posting rampage.
