Used a midi monitor... as expected the wx7 is only outputting c2 (breathe co= ntrol) until I hit a key. Then it transmits the note. It also transmits pitchbend when it s supposed to. So aggravating! I cannot find any sort of local off on the digitone so not sure if that wil= l work for it > On Nov 2, 2018, at 6:27 PM, Brian Willoughby <xxxxxx@xxxxxxxxxxxx.xxx> wro= te: >=20 >=20 >> On Nov 2, 2018, at 4:46 PM, Murray <xxxxxxx@xxxxxxxxxxxx.xxx> wrote: >> There has been a misuse of Note off since midi began. Since MIDI sometimes suffers from stuck notes, the f= olks who dreamed up this =E2=80=9Cclever=E2=80=9D abuse must have been think= ing that it would cure stuck notes. The idea is that as you play chords on t= he keyboard, there might always be at least one key down, but as soon as you= release all keys the MIDI processor will send All Notes Off. This is almost= fine, so long as you only have mono-timbral synths, and so long as All Note= s Off puts voices into Release mode instead of silencing the voice. Unfortun= ately, some synths treat Note Off as a gentle transition into Release mode, b= ut they treat All Notes Off as a sort of emergency sound kill command. Multi= -timbral synths sound like crap when connected to one of these keyboard cont= rollers, because voices are always getting cut short before the full release= phase. >=20 > The abuse, misunderstandings, and general incompatibility between brands w= as so bad that revised copies of the MIDI Specification specifically say, =E2= =80=9CDO NOT DO THIS!=E2=80=9D >=20 > Eventually, MIDI added an All Sounds Off message, separate from All Notes O= ff, with subtle differences in the definitions of what each is supposed to d= o. >=20 >=20 >> You should probably run the output of the WX-7 into something like MidiOX= to see what the controller is actually outputting.
