Friends, Divinity, the Puerto Rico party @ Warehouse, was a total success. The "Boriqua" scene is quite experimental and very healthy. DJ Red C (who recently joined our list) and DJ Timbre did a 2X4 hour set. They started off with some mid-tempo hip hop laden beatz. Slowly progressing to some dnb and ripping it from there. A lot of DJ Cam, ambient background, Wagon Christ, LGR, spoken word, AFX and plenty of scratch-a-paloosa to go around. The club went nuts! The kids had never heard anything quite like that and were loving every minute of it. They were followed by Miami recording artist/DJ Mr. Mendez from Evil Base Recordings (http://www.evilbase.com/) who dropped a self-described "educational rave set". Rabbit in the Moon along with some hard house with occasional breakdowns to ambient interludes and then back up to the sounds of jump up. The vibe was thick and the dancefloor packed. Resident DJs K-O-Ba and Gulembo made us feel at home as they warmed up the crowd for us. All and all it was an amazing experience. I wasn't able to spin in the VIP room b/c of a schedule mismatch but I did promise to go back. We made a lot of contacts in PR and we want to start promoting and throwing parties there. They've already hosted names like Mad Professor, Freaky Chakra, Single Cell Orchestra, DJ Mot, DJ Dan, Bad Boy Bill, and a lot more. Well, it looks like my summer vacation is almost over. I will be heading back up to school to resume as temporary RPM staff head at Penn State's Radio Station (WKPS 90.7 FM) as well as take up my old show slots. As soon as I get back I plan to contact all the record labels that have dropped us promos lately and get back into the groove -- LITERALY! :) Keep'em promos coming people...
