I really don't think Slowdive (one of my favorite bands of all time,
right up there with Joy Division, Autechre, Stereolab and Aphex) are
just a "crappy shoegazer band."  Granted, "Just for a Day" may not have
been the most original album, but they've had excellent collaborations
with both Eno and Reload.  Not to mention their masterpiece "Pygmalion"
which is an obvious influence to the likes of Flying Saucer Attack,
Labradford, Low and the like. 

For those who care, Slowdive's latest incarnation Mojave 3 just released
an album produced Mark Van Hoen (aka Locust).
