>wednesday august 25 >exedra and plex present >the world premiere of >twonky >[souls in metal] >twonky . beta bodega [retro-futurism] live Went to check it. I talked to Twonky which this old school musiq concrete guy and his alert son who answers to "Zeno the Cool" or Tweedle, as he told me. They put on a live set of a pc for about 45 minutes [they took turns holding the mouse]. The deadly duo dropped some screeching fuck shit that left my ears numb. Be warned. >io . elegua [science fiction] live This was some younger guy who i think is some kind of trumpet player for a local band here in Miami. Tonight he was trying his hand at some minimal electronic beat type thing. Crowd was into it. >mad evil scientist . komadose [terror-tech jungle] live Don't let the cornball name fool you. Raw shit. This guy was a blend of Panacea, Squarepusher and someone else i just can't quite remember who. Rumor has it he'll be involved in some kind of remix thing for both Schematic and Beta Bodega. This guy closed off the night with a 30 minute set. >tamber & red sea . etihad & beatcamp [downtempo] I'm not sure they spun, though they were there. >ghyger kounter . beta bodega [gamma grooves] This guy was playing some old deep and dark type house music. Checked one of the records he had which dated back to '89. >mioc . schematic [abstract electronic] This is actaully Romulo from Phoenecia's, twin brother. Supposedly they were attached by birth and then removed by 10 hours of surgery. Anyhow goes by the name Mioc or "Bikini chin-strap". In his set was some Rastermusic, Mego, and Touch. >66° . dopamine [atmospheric jungle] 66° i beleive had the shortest set [besides tamber & red sea ]. He played one record and then left. >cookieheads . audio electric [abstract electronic] Though many requested the Cookie Monster theme song, the crowd was denied. I think old school hip hop and WI type Japanese breakbeats was his theme for the night. >Meza Fine Art Gallery & Cafe >275 giralda ave >coral gables, miami >305. 461.2723 Place was packed with i'd say about 175 people. capacity is actually 200. good turn out, cold a/c and an interesting show. Looking forward to the Jake/Takeshi show. -merck
