I see you specify "today's"... but don't you think it is wise to let the
records resonate and sort of establish their value for the long haul,
before you begin to call them classic?  5 years is not that long.  The
best art is as alive today as it ever was -- maybe even moreso -- even if
the age shows. When you listen to a record for a few years, and it keeps
getting better every time you hear it, then it might be safe to say you've
got a classic.  If it has lost its value in just a few years then maybe
you've just got an interesting period piece. 

Any thoughts on this?
