Please find attached a brief description about a forthcoming Electronica Festival (The Monastery Of Sound). The theme, Cutting edge, experimental electronic/Techno/ drum'n'bass/breakbeat music (electronica). The event will take place on the site of a 10th century monastery in Normandy, France, Involving performers and audiences from the UK. The festivities will include Live performances and dj sets from some of the leading figures in the genre, as well as many emerging names. The music will be supported low-fi 8mm film and slides as well as computer generated visuals. Members of the Audience are encouraged to bring a small record selection and do their own 30 minute set on a first come first serve basis. James Hyman will be filming for MTV and Pioneer have sponsored us with equipment to stream video and audio onto the web/Internet. Mix-Mag, The Wire, Music Week, On magazine, The Big Issue and Muzik magazines have agreed to preview and review the weekend and will be giving us editorials prior to the event. The Live acts and djs on the following list have all confirmed taking part. We are expecting a 1500 - 2000 audience, bussing in from the UK, Ireland, Paris, Amsterdam, and Germany. ALL profits made will be donated to the Big Issue Foundation. Phil Earle of law&auder in collaboration with several other London based independent electronica labels, Blue Planet Records, Hydrogen Jukebox/Recordings of Substance, Leaf Label, Lo Recordings, Ninja Tune, Rephlex Records, Sprawl Imprint, Worm Interface, Freerange Records, The Somerset Unified Sound and the Irish based Ultramac Productions, has brought together a superb collection of artists from the world of experimental electronica to present The Monastery of Sound E L E C T R O N I C A F E S T I V A L 18 - 20th Sept, Normandy, France on the site of a 10 century premonstratensian abbey founded in 1154 (A 50 acre site owned by a young British couple) Live Pa & djs Bedoiun Ascent, Bit-Tonic, Caspar Pound, Dan Gulberry, Decal, Echo Park, Freeform, Girl Eats Boy Sound System, Icarus, Jimpster, Kosmic Kommander, Kumo, Luke Vibert, Mix Master Morris (tbc), Mung, Muslimgauze, Paul Hartnell, PCM, Pearl', Phume, Ramjack, Rhys Chatham, Richard James Rephlex All Stars, Richard Thomas, Si-Cut DB, Spongboy & Tench, Summit, Witchman, and many many more… £50 gets you a coach from Victoria Station on Friday night, across the channel, entry to site, an all day and all night party and back home again for Sunday night, and since all the participants are appearing for the very basic expenses, then ALL profits made will be donated to the Big Issue Foundation.
