I'm not much of a house aficionado, but I can get into it when the form is messed with by someone as skilled as Hakan Libdo. His new album on Denmark's April Records, _Before The Beginning_, abounds with 4/4 rhythms, but the quirky, twisted shit (reminiscent of Atom Heart's bag of sonic tricks) with which he embellishes them makes this album endlessly fascinating. Reminds me of Mannequin Lung's excellent _The Art Of Travelling_ on Plug Research and maybe some Herbert/Dr. Rockit/Wishmountain stuff. I haven't seen any mention of _Before The Beginning_ on the list, but it's highly recommended for those into house/techno laced with fucked-up FX.
