Re: [AH] 100V unit with USA step-down PSU?!

Hi Flavio

In CH you have 230V.
That means 115 Volts at the device instead of 100 V.
On the secondary side of the transformer this means 20.7 Volts instead
of 18Volt.
The regulator in the CS-5 (TA7179P) is defined for 30.0 max input voltage.
The capacitors in the supply are for 35Volts.
So electrically we are on the safe side.

There might be a restriction due to the size of the heat sink. The
transistors on the supply pcb have to convert the over voltage into
heat. The heat sinks are only simple metal sheets (see
https://www.vintagesynthparts.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/05/Power-supply-board-Large.jpg).
If you want to use it over a longer period (several years), I'd add
larger heatsinks to these metalsheets. But for one or two hours of
testing you are fine with the US stepdown transformer.
