These are the only four I've heard on your list and my personal opinion is
that they are all pretty much essential albums. Get all four and you've got
yourself a very nice assortment of electronic music indeed. My fave of those
above would have to be Spatula Freak, one of the best thing Mike P has
done??
A few more discoveries I have made recently are the Plasmalamp album on Worm
Interface and The Remote Viewer album on 555 records.
Plasmalamp's Void Travelling is excellent (its playing now!) with a whole
range of tracks mostly veering towards the melodic side of things. Nice
squelchy beats and eerie "whoooooooooos" going on in the background - get it
now!
The Remote Viewer LP is my kind of sound! I can spot influences by a whole
range of artists and labels from the IDM spectrum including Ae, AFX, Mu-ziq,
Skam and WI. Thats no bad thing though as the sounds are all taken to a
different level. Again theres a range of tracks which is good, suits a wide
range of moods then doesn't it? Anyone got any track info on this one? Like
all good "undergound" labels there is very sparse info on the actual record.
Nice info sheet though mentioning other releases, including one Kid 606 -
IDM list member and purveyor of quality electronic music so I am told, not
heard any of it though....
One thing David mentioned is the high price of Rephlex imports. Most of the
Rephlex catalogue is available through Warp-Mart, is this not a cheaper way
to get hold of their releases for those of you in the US? 11 uk pounds for
an album which is $17.60 roughly and 4 uk pounds for a 12", $6.40. Not sure
what the postage rates are though - just a thought...

bye
