ooooh, I love questions like this.

        My top 5 recommendations would be:

        hab - maPod
        boards of canada - music has a right to children
        autechre - amber and/or tri repetae
        skampler - skam compilation on silent records
        black dog - spanners


This is a good mixture of new and old school idm, and pretty much all of
these discs are easy to find in the USA.

Of course, I'm omitting a huge array of other artists and genres.  Others I
would recommend include Aphex Twin, mu-ziq, Plaid, Luke Vibert, Funki
Porcini, Amon Tobin, Funkstorung, Jeswa, Atom Heart, tetsu Inoue, and a
million others...
