me too (useless post). i've been on this damn list for almost 6 years! and
i even post every now and then. i remember when i first joined it was
december 1993. all anybody talked about on the list was aphex twin,
autechre, and orb. everybodies favorite cd was artificial
intelligence(WARP) number 1 or 2. when a cd or 12" came out, nobody was
frantically getting on the phone to pj at modernmusic, or john at bent
crayon, or anybody. they waited until convienient and they went down to
their local record shop that carried "electronic musc" and bought the new
lfo single, speedy j album, or even a plug ep on vinyl. whatever. nothing
was limited, to a certain extent, nothing was forbidden, and nothing was
really hard to find. now. now things are different, like mask, diskono,
v/vm 7"s, fatcat 12"s, hell even warp releases limited cds, FOR NO REASON!
i mean, for example, not that this release was anything good, but was the
rubber johnny ep on warp all about? limited for what reason? it sucked.
nobody had ever heard of rubber johnny, the only reason i can come up with
is that it created a short stir among the "idm crowd" , or just to fuck
with us, i don't know. either way, the whole idea of releasing only 500
copies of a single ep on warp is beyond me. the whole markant thing is
making me furious.
HELLO!! it's a joke! markant is a joke! im not going to starting going off
about my resources for saying what im about to say...
did nobody but me notice that ALL 12 markant 12"s that have been released so
far all sound exactly the same almost. i might be exagerating a bit, but
they're a bit too similar and the release dates have been a couple of weeks
apart from each other, sometimes even releasing two or three 12"s at a time,
mind you, markant is one man. amont the next few 12"s he's releasing in the
coming months will be a "very very limited picture disc 12", limited to
about 250 copies" now, somebody enlighten me about why markant needs a
picture disc limited to 250? i mean what is the point to releasing only 500
copies worldwide of every 12" you put out? and don't flame me saying how
that's only how many he would sell, because then i would ask you to locate
me a copy of markant #2, 4,5 and 7. which im sure you won't be able to do.
ok, i think im done now.
my only point was that i think the whole limited thing has gotten to alot of
the labels' heads, AND the artists.

it's good but it took me a while to figure out that both sides are supposed
to be played at 45, the fatcat side sounds too fast at 45 but it's the right
speed. compare the times listed on the jacket.

at first i wasn't too into the original track, but after repeat listens i
like it alot. i still like the dj food mix on their the best.
if somebody offers you some hash with white stipes of opium running through
it.... nepalise bliss
blow your head clean off.

on a mita copystar dc-1205 the heat lamp triad doesn't regulate the voltage
well enough to the fuser section, causing the exposure lamp to light up
brighter than usual, causing what is known as a "bias volt drown-out" if
you're really unlucky then the stepping motor then runs at triple time,
which in theory shouldn't damage the machine. but if you try to reduce a
copy lower than 63%, once you press the print button, it's all over. the
stepping motor runs the primary lens directly into the mirror railing and
will not only break two mirrors it will then continually run and if you
stand around like a idiot wondering what that grinding sound is, the scan
rod with become completely stripped, and that renders you copy machine
useless. yup.
