Komputer - The World of Tomorrow (Mute) With all the future themes on this CD (plus the fact that it arrived in my P.O. Box this morning wrapped in an anti-static bag) I'd expected something a little more vibrant. Previous experience with Kraftwerk "tribute" (in the loosest sense of the definition) bands (i.e. last year's brilliant Kraftwelt record, "Electric Dimension") has been really rewarding... but there's something chilling about Komputer's debut album. World of Tomorrow could probably best be described as British Kraftwerk. The only discernable difference from the original Kraut rockers is Simon Leonard's distinctly limey accent. But, from its single-tone melodies, soft analogue synth and light, bleepy rhythm... Komputer capture the nostalgic sound beautifully. Hehe... this disc probably should have been called The World of Yesterday. ---------------------------------------------------- bleepbloop is radio show on: WRCT Pittsburgh, 88.3FM every tuesday from 4-6am (EST) @ http://www.wrct.org bleepbloop is a website! - http://tracie.res.cmu.edu all the bleepbloop shows are available in mp3 format
