True DAT us best, but unless you are going for the effect, I'd avoid
minicassettes because they sound terrible for anything other than office
dictation. Big electronic stores have at least one unit in the walkman
section that records, Aiwa makes one that is stereo and has a seperate
microphone. I used one for found sound recording and it wasn't bad, not the
best but cheap anyways.
