Juryman V Spacer _Mail Order Justice_ (SSR/Crammed)

hmm.. not 100% sure who this release is or how it got put together, but
the melting of juryman & spacer ended up with a real interesting release.
some great abstract tracks of jazzy wacked beats combined with beautiful
scores reminiscent of both artists. a number of the tracks have "poetry"
read thru them. actually what really drew me to the album when giving it a
listen.. they call it "poetry" in the credits, but imho some of the tracks
borderline rap. hmm.. not that one cannot be the other or that it matters
at all.. overall, i've enjoyed this album, its got good variety and the
"poetry" adds a nice flavor to another otherwise instrumental album...

Fruitloop _The Drifter EP_ (Cup of Tea)

oh. cup of tea. haven't had a dose of these guys for some time. hadn't
heard of fruitloop before. actually know absolutely zilch about them. but
this 12" is great. "chaos cafe" is a highlight.. and one other track
really touches me, on the experimental side almost. but basically this
release is what i have come to expect from cup of tea.. excellent loud
beats time after time..

Kid Loco _A Grand Love Story_ (Yellow)

if you like the mellow jazzy french scene than you can't miss this release.
absolutely gorgeous and orchestrated by the "real stoned kid loco".. this
guy is just smooth imho. this album does include some previously released
tracks, so if you have a run on his releases you might want to peep your
tracks before purchasing this.. but the album as a whole is very cohesive
and the track order flows together very well.. its almost hard to describe
kid loco and his style. but if you had a taste of him and he tickled your
taste buds then definitely go out and order him for dinner. you will be
more than satisfied and i doubt you'll even have need for desert. :D

Bentley Rhythm Ace _Bentley Rhythm Ace_ (Astralwerks/Skint)

first thing i've picked up in ages that says astralwerks on it. huh.
anyway, found this used on cd and snatched it up after listening to a 12"
from the album which really grooved. a bit more uptempo than my normal
vibes but really good stuff. probably the most "acid-jazz" album i've
picked up in some time. excellent use of a variety of sounds
(instruments?) this album really gets me moving. a great cd to throw in
at work when the energy level is getting low and the monitor is looking
pretty flat. a number of tracks stand out but altogether its a pretty
solid release.

Chris Bowden with 4 Hero _Hero/Lullaby_

pure melodic ecstasy. that's all i have to say. :D

Beanfield _Beanfield_ (Compost)

been waiting for a full length release from these guys for some time now.
ever since i heard "charles" on some random cd compilation (plug in v4 i
think) i've been on a hunt for beanfield material. the version of charles
on the album seems to be a bit different tho i haven't listened to the
versions back to back. the album continues that beanfield sound. almost a
cross between idm stuff and more electro-y d'n'b melodies. haven't
listened to the release enough yet to talk about individual tracks but the
album is pretty good. definitely worth a listen if beanfield has impressed
you before. not much new ground with this release, my excitement stems
more from having some new beanfield material. good honest electronic music.

well.. hmm.. that's it for now. and til after the holidays... peace all.
