I have a 1997 issue of Keyboard where R. D. James claimed to be writing computer programs in some language of his own invention. If this is true, I imagine he is working within some musical programming environment. The interview is standard Keyboard technical fare ("I use Pro Tools, Recycle, etc.") and I don't doubt *much* of it is true. >>He is quiting music to write computer programs to make music - > You know, when RDJ says this crap, what the hell is he talking about? > > Does he mean he's going to learn SuperCollider really well, or does he > write his own compiled code in C or other 'real' language? does he just > play with MixMan? > > Kinda seems to me that a guy who tells you he makes synths out of two > sticks and a dog turd would be the same kinda guy who'd says he was > 'PROGRAMMING' when he was actually importing porn jpgs into MetaSynth and > calling the output the product of his ingenious Artificially Intelligent > software... Hed start claiming how in 2001 his creation would become > self-aware and demanding he download more smut in order to create a new > album. > > I really didnt feel like participating in yet another Aphex thread but Im > curious, ok admittedly on a nerd-level as to his true sophistication in > actually programming a computer. To me it sounds like another > bluffy-gimmick. but honestly tho, if it sounds good I really dont care - > Im merely curious about this. > > dammit why did I write this :( > ernie > > > Ernesto Ikerd, (817) 763-4795 > Company Graphics, Dept 17, MZ-1156 > Lockheed Martin Tactical Aircraft Systems > Fort Worth, Texas > > >
