You could have just e-mailed me directly. You know these IDM heads don't care about our silly distorted rhythms. Nope, just clean beautiful melodies for them there IDM-ers. Yep, all about the Enya. Anyway, EL6 is ok. 2cds of fun stuff, ranging from drum 'n' bass to techno to hip hop. While I still love the series, Electric Ladylands were better near the 3 and 4 marks...the last two have been a bit too varied and thus lost a bit of their focus. Worth dropping a few benjamins on though... As for whether or not there is a lot of exclusive material, I'd only heard 2 tracks prior and those tracks were worth hearing again, so.... The new Techno Animal track is OK (but I have a higher standard of expectation from them), while Panacea makes a comeback from the pitiful _Twisted Designs_ to bring 2 very fine tracks ("Bulletproof" being most excellent!). White Viper is supposedly worked up a bit by Sidewinder (Sidewinder being Kevin Martin/Justin Broadrick's name for music that sounds like Porter Ricks hooked up with Alec Empire) which means that it is fairly good. Zulutronic's "Cowboytronic", which is from their recent Pharma album, is a great way to get your Garth Brooks lovin' relatives into the realms of dance beats, and Spectre leaves the darkest dope trail I've heard yet from his bad ass Brooklyn self. Si Begg is just kinda there (a few more tracks like this, and I may have to set him aside for Jamie Lidell as my favorite "techno" superstar), but Bomb 20 gives off a very nice but laid back affair. Overall it is most worth your bucks, but don't expect to be dropped to the floor like you were by numbers 3 and 4 of the series. Then again, I've been spending too much time listening to the new Shamen to know much of anything on anything. (Chris's opinion of my tastes just drops -5 points, or more!). I'll type up a few lines about the new Ice 12" (featuring a new track with Toastie Taylor, plus mixes by Scotty Hard and El-P) and the new Matmos 12" later on this week for you. Jason J. Tar ... who is so determined to procrastinate studying that he even watched college football today. Yep, I'm male afterall. --- Peace Hugs and Unity Jason J. Tar W. W. J. D?
