Artificial Intelligence I & II on Warp are real classics of the original IDM
sound. AI II is especially worth having (esp the 2cd version), it is one of
those rare compilations which hangs together really well as an album instead
of just sounding like a collection of different tracks. They are more about
lush, beautiful melodies than the sort of spikey beatistry that seems to
define the modern sound though.
