It's always good to see (older) list members moving up through the wave of music being released. -- 19 July 2002 --for immediate release-- Andrew Duke's album debuts at #1 on Canada's largest campus/community radio station Response to Sprung, the latest album from Halifax-based artist Andrew Duke, has been overwhelmingly positive. Released summer 2002 on Marseille France's Bip-Hop (bip-hop.com), radio and press in Canada and around the world are showing plenty of enthusiasm and support. Since the album's release, Duke has been invited to appear on 8 compilations (from labels as far away as Norway, Macedonia, and Japan). Remixes, collaborations, and albums for 2003 are already under discussion. Radio: The album debuted at #1 on the Electronic/RPM charts at Toronto's CIUT (the country's largest campus/community station--over 8 million listeners) and CKDU (Halifax). Sprung is also getting play nationally (CBC's Brave New Waves and RadioSonic, plus Canada's 55 campus/community radio stations) and internationally (in countries such as USA, Brazil, UK, France, Belgium, The Netherlands, Germany, Sweden, Finland, Norway, Belarus, Yugoslavia, Macedonia, Czech Republic, South Africa, Japan, New Zealand, and Australia). Duke's last album, Physical and Mental Health (Folding Cassettes/( )Dial Records, San Francisco), reached #5 on the Electronic/RPM chart in !earshot (Canada's national radio chart listing), and Sprung looks set to surpass this.
