It's already out... at least I saw the (expensive yet extremely tempting)
double lp version in my local shop the other day and have seen it on a
bunch of pre-order lists. It's a Sub Rosa release... sort of an import,
sort of not (prices generally aren't more than $15-16 because Caroline
picked them up).

I've heard most of the SotL records... they're all almost exactly the
same. Yet they're all stunning. They always catch me completely off
guard because I tend to subconsciously dismiss them as just another drone
rock band... no one should make that mistake - the ballasted orchestra is
literally one of the best 3 or 4 ambient records I've ever heard... as
good as oval's "do while" on diskont 94 or mika vainio's "viher" on Onko
or Lull's Cold Summer. but not like any of them.

If you can find it (i dug up 2 sealed copies in a tower records outlet
bargain bin for $2 each last summer, so it might be possible) the long out
of print collaboration with labradford called the Kahanek Incident (12"
only, on Trance Syndicate) is superfantastic and a little different. Not
by much though. And the ballasted orchestra is still, for whatever
reason, my favorite.

speaking of labradford, their new record is even worse than the last
(which I was not very fond of). avoid. but you might like "a stable
reference" if you like SotL - same feel sorta but more song structure. a
real masterpiece.
