As someone suggested, the originator of that bassline was the incredible
Bernard Edwards, on Chic's "Good Times." The Sugarhill Gang appropriated it
note-for-note a couple of years later; the Queen bass line belongs to the
same general family, but appeared later still.

The Chic catalogue (and associated records like the Sister Sledge and Diana
Ross albums that the Chic Organization wrote and produced) have probably
the best playing of any records that came out of disco--they've been
sampled left and right over the last few years, and no wonder.
