The tunes are simplistic to the extent of being trivial, the sound is thin, the sounds are more or less "out of the box" (=boring) and not nearly as interesting as their later material (which, more or less, I think is close to fantastic). There's a feeling of disinterestedness (!?) through the entire CD and it almost hasn't visited my CD-player since I bought it. >and i also agree with heatsink; cichlisuite gets played here quite a >lot. krib is wonderful. the marble sounds remind me of that game >kerplunk, i think. i love those autechre boys. I haven't got any proof, but Autechre might have gotten their idea for the marble-sounds from British electroacoustic composer Jonty Harrison. I don't remember the name of Harrison's CD (it's on Canadian label empreintes DIGITALes if anyone wants to check it out), but on it he has constructed a fantastic 15-20 minute piece consisting of nothing but the manipulated sound of various wine-glass sounds. The "glassiness" of the piece is so beautiful; lots of time-stretching and smearing. Autechre's marbles sound very similar. >alan! /Oeivind/ /Oeivind Idsoe/ xxxxxxx@xxxxxxxx.xxx ICQ: 7901600
