Cool beans. Thanks for the post. I don=E2=80=99t have an Odyssey, but such p= osts get me thinking, how could I do something like this with what I have. A= nd this can lead to some fruitful experimentation.=20 I=E2=80=99ve just acquired a Waldorf Pulse . . . maybe once I dive into that= mod matrix it will give me some of the flexibility I=E2=80=99m yearning for= .=20 I=E2=80=99m often frustrated by the static implementation of parameters ofte= n called things like crossmod, AM, etc. All too often I have an =E2=80=9Con/= off=E2=80=9D choice rather than the ability to dial in the depth of the effe= ct, and better yet modulate the depth of such effects via LFO=E2=80=99s and e= nvelopes. I miss being able to dial in a tiny degree of crossmod on my JP6. N= ow that I=E2=80=99m on a JX10 it=E2=80=99s just an =E2=80=9Con/off=E2=80=9D p= arameter. =E2=80=9COn=E2=80=9D is frequently more effect than I=E2=80=99m lo= oking for. My SQ80 has some wonderful mod routing options, but AM is still o= nly =E2=80=9Con/off=E2=80=9D.=20 Maybe an Odyssey is what I need.=20 Sent from my iPhone > On Apr 22, 2018, at 10:26 AM, annika morgan <xxxxxx.x.xxxxxx@xxxxx.xxx> wr= ote: >=20 > So last night I was dorking around on my Odyssey and found that patching t= he FM and PW modulation across the ADSR, the LFO with noise and square, and t= he putting a super low attack, decay and sustain (below the first notch) and= a release about 2/3rds up on the ADSR while patching the VCF and VCA across= the AR envelope resulted in a tight FM modulation that gives a kick drum/sl= ightly brassy pulse at the front of a note followed by an almost but not qui= te out of control FM modulation. >=20 > I assume one could use this configuration in less of a Daft Punk Tron soun= dtrack kind of way to achieve a really nice trumpet sound but I personally l= ike playing stuff that=E2=80=99s hanging onto the =E2=80=9Ccliffs of insanit= y=E2=80=9D to steal a term from the movie The Princess Bride.=20 >=20 > Anyhoo, I just find using envelopes to control how much the FM opens up a r= eally cool way to sculpt sounds and I imagine with a modular setup the optio= ns and possibilities in that regard are just bonkers.=20
