(idm) autechre toying with us all (?)

>> I must admit to scepticism over whether the posters were actually Autechre
(has
there been any real evidence?), and it seems to me strange that they'd lurk
fairly quietly before leaving in public disgust over what seemed a rather
minor
matter. <<

Right, it would seem a bit overly sensitive - I mean, geez, welcome to the
Internet, fellas - but then again who wants to disappear up one own's arse?
Maybe each one could disappear up the other one's arse.

What about this possibility: the original post was indeed from autechre, but
they *did not* sign off the list as indicated, and instead continue to lurk
in order to monitor the inevitable controversy (and chuckle with
satisfaction). I would like to think that this was true...I'd have more
respect for them if this was true (and if they were just "taking the piss"
with the whole deal in order to toy with us all).

It amounts to a great PR stunt as far as the 1000 IDM people go...man, all
this talk of autechre (good or bad, doesn't matter, it builds excitement)
made me reach for my copy of amber...except I can't find it right now.

Of course, I could easily remain with the original camp that doubts the
original "aye dee em" post's authenticity. Remember when "Hulk Hogan" was on
the list? I really have my doubts that this was the well-known wrestler.
Who would like to divulge their *sources* on the authenticity of the original
post?

<<and most people understand the "message" implicit in an unanswered e-mail.>>

And what is the message when nobody continues a suggested thread?

a. uh, whatever, dude
b. right on! your post was so dead accurate, no further comments are
necessary
c. wot?

I've always hoped it was <b> when my threads went nowhere.
