They will burn out quick if > you ask me. comparing v/vm to markant on the basis that they both release lots of ltd editions is an even bigger mistake. shouldn't the sound come somewhere ahead of quantity pressed? markant is no good because the only thing going for those records is their scarcity. is anyone really certain he's just not re-releasing the same tracks in a different order? mind you w/ boc at the pinnacle of '98 i guess excitement isn't really a necessity any more. pleasant and safe is in, and v/vm are refreshingly anti-pleasant and entertainingly erratic. lee perry released 100 7" singles for one label, trojan's upsetter imprint, in less than 3 years at the end of the 60's and he was stilly looking pretty lively last year, proving that you can't have too much of a good thing. > Besides, I HATE 7"ers. maybe in 30 years you'll be able to buy 'em all on a cd box set at tower. i'd wait if i were you. disclaimer: i know everyone is probably sick of this thread, and i'm more or less rephrasing the v/vm statement, but i composed most of this last night and was too lazy to send it. i just wanted to show that not everyone on idm judges music by the quantity, format, rarity or perceived monetary value of releases. -martin
