(idm) Proposal: an IDM zine

hey, you listers probably know me from my bombarding you with things about the
Purity Control radio show I cohost. But I have a different thing to talk about,
which is:

i have been thinking for a while now that there is no single publication,
particularly in the states, that deals with IDM-type music exclusively. it
usually crops up in drips and drabs in other mags. so i was thinking about
starting an idm-oriented zine as a "handheld" outlet for reviews, interviews,
etc. there are already several good on-line sources, but i, and perhaps others,
would like something to read elsewhere--on the bus, in the bathroom, on the
couch, etc.

i thought it would be a good idea to consult the list on this first before
launching because it would be helpful to have some interest from:

a) list members who would want to write, take photos, draw art, etc.

b) labels who would want to provide materials, artists for interviews, and...
advertising support

c) list members who would actually want to read the damn thing!

now i don't expect this to be a glossy, full-color art magazine type
of thing. i was thinking more on the lines of a traditional zine (no newsprint)
with a clear, simple design. in short, try to make it look the nicest with
limited resources (after all, i would hope to break even eventually).

anyway, i was very interested in what people on the list would think about
this idea--worthwhile? waste of time? please email me at below address with
any comments or suggestions. thanks.
