(idm) more on vadim, toop

Also meant to mention that if you're digging the Vadim LP, the new DJ
Krush will probably sound quite nice as well. Think it's called "Kasukei",
or at least that's what all the press I've read have called it - the
sleeve just has a Japanese character on it. It's only just made it to the
UK from Japan, and a domestic US release is even more unlikely. More
sludgy breaks with teasing scratches and that trademark underproduced
sound. Possibly my favorite thing Krush has done seeing as how it's
missing all the half-baked raps (Meiso w/ the Roots aside) that have
ruined his other LP's for me. Only one vocal track on this one, by
Esthero. Look for Req's LP on Skint as well for more staticky b-boy head
nodders...

And as far as the hip-hop thread goes - haven't even been able to read all
the messages yet, but I'll ditto the recommendation for David Toop's "Rap
Attack." Not nearly as dense as "Ocean of Sound" but equally invaluable.
Like the T-shirt says: "Your music has a history. Learn it."
