just got these: makesnd "cassette" (mille plateaux) mp69 (1999? this is just out, right?) minimalistic slow bass'n'click a la thomas brinkmann's "concept 1" variations (and possibly his other stuff?). very nice and suggestive, perhaps a bit too "clean" sounding. i think i like this better than "96:vr"... of course, i've only listened to it once, yet. to go off further on the "96:vr" tangent, i actually think the variations that aren't on the cd (but can be downloaded from the m_nus website) are the better ones! i think they're a bit more minimalistic, perhaps that's why? anyway, i recommend "cassette". nice stuff if you're into minimalism. sort of ambient but without the sweeping sounds. beaumont hannant "sculptured" (general production) gpr lp 9 (1994) found it used and decided to pick it up even though it was a bit steep (like $10). a very poppy record. quite a lot of it sounds rather dated, but still several good tracks. "woven textures" sounds as if it's an outtake from "texturology" (which was also released 1994, hmm), the rest of the record is, a the liner notes mention, a bit of a departure. idm light, sort of. track 7, "autun", was supposedly meant for "autecure (bassiadki release)". interesting spelling there. would this be the elusive beaumonthannantonemx? it sounds nothing like either "basscadet" or "beaumonthannanttwomx", if the tracklisting is right. it's some kind of pointless rock excercise. but, a fun record. i'm not sorry i bought it. although that hiphop track is a bit too dodgy... hs _____________________________ what we are, we choose to be.
