Just got the new Stewart Walker full-length, "Stabiles," on Force Inc. Amazing. Much more stripped down than "Jet Fuel and Longing," more in the vein of "Nothing Produces Stark Imagery." It's really, really spare, but not in a Mike Ink vein. Though it's four-to-the-floor, there's plenty of internal rhythmic intricacy. Lovely breadth of palette. And all kinds of odd sounds lurking deep in the mix, seeping through only after repeated listens. For a "genre record" (minimal techno, no doubt), it's amazingly inventive & subtle.
