Funny you ask this, but the answer is yes, BoC does make me think of a
particular time in my life. It makes me think of my distant childhood =
in the
early 70s - the fragmented voices of adults and (mostly) children sound =
like
they found a technique to record the mental sounds of distant memories. =
The
evolving, somewhat funky beats and vague, unfinished twinkling melodies
evoke the experiences of being awash in (but not understanding) the =
music
and culture of the era. It's like being in the ghostly ruins of a media
culture, as perceived by a blind infant.

At least that's how it sounds to me.
