hi kidz, whoa, a friend just bought the new Rephlex single - Fuschmuschi - "Super Sexy Lady". CD single comes with 3 mixes, another track by them and a Bogdan remix of that track ("My Number One".) Well, "Super Sexy Lady" is in the Rephlex patented weirdfuckedup vocal stylee - and sounds quite a lot like Prince meets electro (lotsa falsetto vocals!), not a million miles away from the Cylob remixes of Jones that came out recently. Or, actually, the Pigeonhed remixes on Sub Pop from a while back.. weird. The Bogdan Raczynski remix is all unintelligible vocals and child-like singing scribbled over the top - probably the best thing on the single, actually, subversive in a cute way like the Aphex remix of Baby Ford recently was great in a 'grows on you' way. There's also a DMX Krew picture disc on Rephlex that's just come out. It has Ed DMX (with a New Balance T-shirt on) balancing two 'DMX Krew' slipmatted decks on his knees. Someone take that man back to 1982 now! Haven't heard the tracks yet, one of them seems to be a vocal collaboration with one of Chicks On Speed (German DJ Hell and Christopher Just collaborators and forthcoming on Digital Hardcore, rite? Or is that someone else?) regards, h0l. ps - got an oold promo of Locust - "Morning Light" at the weekend - I was supa-surprised, I thought this would be Biosphere-style hermeticallysealed ambient, but it's beautiful vocal electronica in a sorta Lamb-meets-Archive style. Wow - this must have been way ahead of its time when it originally came out. (on R+S sublabel Apollo, a fair while ago, rite?)
