It's not just England. America is not the land of the experimental style-mixing
maniacs (hey, Teep :). You're just as likely to find boring all-one-style,
same-tracks-every-time-you-see-them DJs in America as England.

The trick is finding the DJs who do spin your bottle, so to speak. I've yet to
hear Teep live, but I'd guess he's one of 'em. The problem is, mixing styles
requires much more musical knowledge than does mixing only one style. Imagine
everything you know about IDM, or electro, or techno, then try to imagine
knowing that same amount about drum-n-bass, or house, or hip-hop. It takes a lot
of dedication and enthusiasm, something Teep certainly has.

This is something I totally aspire to in my own DJing - keeping it fresh by
being a moving target. I don't see why Mike Ink can't sit comfortably next to
Ectomorph, who certainly goes well with Kraftwerk, which goes with Carl Craig's
69 material like butter on toast...and it just keeps going.

In parting - if you don't see DJs you like in England, have you considered
investing in a pair of turntables?

Cheers,

Bill
