Melody and melodic development are not what it is about. That track, to me, is the 'throw out the frills and strip it down to the basic essentials' portion of the album. If you want light, cheery melodies and no vocals, check the Mozart bin in the classical section. Something a little more mathematical? Bach. (Yes, I am being curt.) The review is fair, in that the bias is quite clear. Not saying "this sucks" or "this rocks", but "this is what I like and don't like, and this is why". Since I've bothered to go this far, I'll throw in my opinion: _Modus Operandi_ is a fine album, and a fine intro for the uninitiated. Obviously, anyone who has been listening for a while longer will have plenty to quibble over -- given the number of previously-released tracks, among other things (for example, he couldn't design more atmospheric noises for between the tracks?). Anyone else remember _Screamadelica_ by Primal Scream? Half the album was previously-issued single sides. Great nonetheless. --Mark __ <http://www.xnet.com/~mkolmar/BurningRome> < MPEG & RA audio clips > Forthcoming CD SENSELESS on Mindfield Records MINDCD03 Cathartium 14 m u s i c : w e b : s o u n d d e s i g n : h t m l : c g i : e t c "I'm a liberal guy too cool for the macho ache with a secret tooth for the cherry on the cake" -- Prefab Sprout, "Cruel"
