I tend to think Of Dimitri as a one-man genre. While it doesn't necessarily clash with IDM, I don't reallyu see him fitting neatly into that category. Speaking purely about the music, you'd be better off comparing him to free jazz. When I listen to him perform, I go through a process. I've discussed this with others, and we all seem to agree. You start out kinda laughing, thinking that "this is totally obnoxious, but it's wicked". And then five minutes later, you're completely entranced by his performance, following every note with complete obedience. You just get lost in his compositions (so don't listen to phthalocyanine in the car, you'll cause an accident). And everytime I see him perform, I'm suprised that the same thing happens, even though it does every time.
