I suppose it could be...

personally i dig it, IMO.

Well I would say for me it's longeveity. I prefer to buy stuff that i
know i will like for a long time. Alot of "funny + I don't care" music
is funny for a little while and but then the joke wears thin. And it
also kind of depends on who it is.

For instance, Dopplereffekt is kind of silly. But that is the only way
i know their music to be.

Aphex Twin on the other hand, has just put out some really brilliant
stuff. Music that I think I will love 15 years from now. Just knowing
that he can do great tracks, and just putting out blah stuff is rather
disappointing. I highly doubt I would want to listen to alot of his
most recent efforts consistently for the next 5 years. More than
likely it's going to collect dust.

Well I started listening to him in '91 and I love all the older stuff
and have substantial lesser views of his more recent stuff.

{Note: i cut a bunch of stuff that didn't seem relevant to my
post..sorry if this confuses anyone}

I am always pleased with Autechre. For someone to make a "struggle" as
you put it is ridiculous. I wouldn't even call my feelings even close
to a struggle, I just place alot less emphasis on Aphex than i did in
the past. He is no longer someone I anticipate exceptional music from.
Plus as I mentioned in an earlier posts there are more than enough
quality electronic artists out there.

I'm more interested in seeing the video, then hearing the music. I
haven't heard Window Licker yet, I'll just wait to see the video

For me there was no growing to like it. I immediately like it. I think
he has alway had some pretty varied releases.

i like music that takes you places mentally. music that takes you on
some kind of journey. What images are you talking about? The Videos? I
think you have a sense of humor and still make really good music. He
has the sense of humor (or maybe part of it is from Chris Cunningham),
but i disagree that the music is really good. It doesn't have a long
shelf life in my book. Cheers
