I prefer to buy stuff that i know i will like for a long time. Alot of "funny + I don't care" music is funny for a little while and but then the joke wears thin. And it also kind of depends on who it is. For instance, Dopplereffekt is kind of silly. But that is the only way i know their music to be. Aphex Twin on the other hand, has just put out some really brilliant stuff. Music that I think I will love 15 years from now. Just knowing that he can do great tracks, and just putting out blah stuff is rather disappointing. I highly doubt I would want to listen to alot of his most recent efforts consistently for the next 5 years. I am always pleased with Autechre. For someone to make a "struggle" as you put it is ridiculous. I wouldn't even call my feelings even close to a struggle, I just place alot less emphasis on Aphex than i did in the past. He is no longer someone I anticipate exceptional music from. What images are you talking about? The Videos? I think you have a sense of humor and still make really good music. He has the sense of humor (or maybe part of it is from Chris Cunningham), but i disagree that the music is really good. It doesn't have a long shelf life in my book.
