I saw there was a few requests for comments on the Capitol K record. Well, I got it a few weeks ago, and first off, was quite impressed with the packaging! It came in an oversized protective plastic bag which was lightly taped closed. Inside, the out sleeve was made of medium-weight art paper which was only folded in half, not sealed on 3 side. The whole thing is a mock-up of a mock-up that would go to the printer. The artwork is rough but cute with wires runnin all over comin out of some time of electronic unit and a 'lil koala bear climbing out the corner, there are notes written where the song titles would go, etc. A small peice of paper is irregularly cut out and placed perfectly on the right top corner with a paper clip ( a real paper clip) with a notation about the Logo. Inside, the record is in a nice sleeve, and there is a sheet of paper with each individual song title, the artists and name of the 'band'. I write all this out because I was pretty freaked to get something so neat and original like. Ok, here's my review of the music...my fave cuts are marked with an * CAPITOL K - SONG FOR B - ELFCUT=85Wot a package! Great concept, and a hellovalotta work went into this one! 4 very interesting cuts of Electronic jazz for the millenium! *'Song for Belgium' has a very sweet intro with twinkling as light drumming with an undercurrent of strong bass takes over=85voices call out as it goes deep, funky and strange and gets pretty wild 'n wacky rockin out with neat use of feedback. *'Wisdom Teeth' begins with deep ambience=85clicking grows then slows as bass gradually gets pumped in and signalling sounds lead to deep, low 'n lovely Aphex like tones with deep bass drops and great scrapings. 'Song for Banana' is an odd, thick mix-up of rockin percussion, exotic song, trippy efx and police sirens, it reminds one of Aphex Twin's 'Logon Rock Witch'. 'Arabs' starts out with a pleasant combo of ticking and twirly keys pulsing, then acid stabs and eeire low tones flow thru and scraping stuff like an amphetamine cricket sounds off.
